NEED

I am not generally a Gap shopper but lately there have been a few things that have made me take a second look.   First, the new 1969 jeans are great.  I was lured in by the photos of Anja Rubik wearing some ripped up skinny jeans this summer but I thought, no way, it is The Gap and they are going to be stiff and fit horribly.  After about a month of the Anja poster in the window and I finally went in and tried them on.  Amazing!  Soft fabric, great fit.  I am already thinking of getting a second pair.

Then they do this amazing collaboration with Stella McCartney.  I know it is for kids but still amazing and beautiful, the Gap near me doesn't carry the older girl sizes but I have read all over the internet of woman buying girls sizes 12 or 14.  Online all the larger sizes are sold out but there is now news of a new collection from Stella coming out for Spring 10.  I will be online that day ready to purchase.

Inspiration

I haven't written much lately, I  was traveling, hosting friends and drinking wine.  It is hard to get back in the swing of things so I thought I would post a few of my favorite places online for inspiration and get inspired to start up here again.

Besides the news sites I never let a day go by without checking out what Scott Schuman has posted for the day.  I am constantly getting ideas from this site.

He is also currently contributing to the very cool Burberry project Art of the Trench

It was a sad day when I heard that Domino was closing.  Thankfully there is Lonny, an online magazine started by some of the people who made Domino great.  Though I love to have a nice glossy mag to read, being online allows Lonny to be much larger and fill their pages with many more tips and photographic inspiration.

One of my favorite artists is Audrey Kawasaki I frequently check her site and her blog to see what she is working on.  Her prints sell out in a matter of seconds but I keep trying.

I am also constantly amazed by Kiln Design Studio.  I went to high school with one of the founders, Elissa Ehlin and she and her husband make some of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

When I want something unique or just to look and see cool things that people have been coming up with I check out SupermarketHQ it is a great place for cool cards, art prints, and some great jewelry.

I can't forget food, I am obsessed (OBSESSED) with photos of food.  Some of my favorites are Joy the Baker for sweets, Tartelette for recipes I probably can't duplicate but I can't stop looking at her photos, The Kitchn for great tips and recipes, and when I want everything all at once and just to see pretty food I go to Tastespotting .  I was recently introduced to 101Cookbooks.  Great recipes, great writing and great photos.

I hope you have found something here you didn't know about before, let me know some of your favorites.  Now that I have broken the ice I will be back to posting on a more regular basis.

Good Food, New Friends, Great Night

Last night I had a wonderful dinner with two of my co-workers, Bonnie and Denise.   Bonnie was nice enough to invite us over to her lovely home in Noe Valley and she even made us a delicous lasagna.  It is always nice to meet new people that you connect with and can have fun with outside of work.  It is even better when this is done over great food and wine.  We thought we were all done when Bonnie brought out these yummy little desserts, just the right amount so you are not over stuffed but the right amount of sweet to end the meal.  The brownie and pear combo was so good and everything always tastes better with a little frozen yogurt on top.   Yum.

Must Eat!

YUM.  Last night we had dinner at A16 on Chestnut Street in the Marina.  So good!  We were seated overlooking the kitchen and had a hard time making up our minds because everything going into the oven looked so delicious.   Tom decided on a plate with three different meats from Watson Farms and I had a trio of seafood.  For sides we had the roasted potatoes and the grilled polenta.  Everything was amazing and I can't want to come back and try the pizza.
